He estado viendo los videos de la inteligente campaña preparada por la NBA para estos playoffs, There Can Only Be One. Todos habréis visto alguno de ellos. Imagino que si los hubieran estuvieran pasando por televisión diariamente, como en Estados Unidos, terminarían perdiendo el interés. Pero vistos en YouTube, cuatro seguidos, alternándolos según marcan los propios biorritmos, me han dado ganas de coger un balón y correr a la canasta más cercana. Eso es una buena señal de su efectividad. 

A lo largo de este último mes y medio, se han emitido anuncios coincidentes con las eliminatorias que se encontraban en juego:

Este: Pierce-Bibby, Howard-Bosh, Jamison-Wallace, James-Garnett, Billups-Howard, Garnett-Billups.

Oeste: Ginobili-Nash, Kidd-Paul, Fisher-Camby, McGrady-Boozer, Fisher-Williams, Bryant-Boozer, Parker-Stojakovic, Duncan-Paul, Kobe-Duncan.

Además de Nash-Kidd y Bryant-O’Neal, que no se refieren a ninguna serie pero tienen su gracia.

Todos ellos repiten uno de estos cinco textos, que tratan sobre el Miedo,

“There is so many emotions at the end of the season. And nobody likes to talk about it, but one of them is fear. Fear that you have come this far, and it could all end. The dream could die. But me, I like the fear. It means I’m close. It means I’m ready”.

“Hay muchas emociones al final de la temporada. Y a nadie le gusta comentarlo, pero una de ellas es el miedo. Miedo a haber llegado tan lejos y que todo pueda terminar. El sueño puede acabar. Pero a mí, me gusta el miedo. Significa que estoy cerca. Significa que estoy preparado”.

Los Sueños,

“I have dreamed about winning it all since I was probably nine years old. Remember seeing Jordan/Bird win it all. I made up my mind right then, that was going to be me. That I was going to be part of that. Some dreams fade over time. But not this one”.

“He soñado con ganarlo todo desde que tenía, probablemente, nueve años. Recuerdo ver a Jordan/Bird ganarlo todo. Decidí entonces que así iba a ser yo. Que iba a formar parte de aquello. Algunos sueños de desvanecen con el tiempo. Pero no este”.

El Respeto,

“We all want respect. You want it from your teammates, from the fans. You want it from other players. There’s a milion ways to get respect, but there’s only one way to get the kind of respect that is undeniable, the kind that can never take away from you: Win”.

“Todos queremos respeto. Lo quieres de tus compañeros, de los fans. Lo quieres de los otros jugadores. Hay un millón de maneras de hacerse respetar, pero sólo hay una de lograr la clase de respeto que es innegable, del tipo que nunca pueden quitarte: Ganar”.

Dejar una marca en la Historia,

“In the Playoffs everything changes. Sure the regular season got you here, but it’s over. Only thing that matters now is what you do next. This is when one team can become part of history. This is when one team has the chance to be remembered”.

“En los Playoffs todo cambia. Está claro que la temporada regular te trajo hasta aquí, pero ya se ha terminado. Lo único que importa ahora es lo siguiente que haces. Buscar en lo más profundo.

 ”Tras 82 partidos, hay parte de ti que se pregunta si te queda algo. Si tienes algo más que dar. Pero de alguna manera, en algún sitio, lo encuentras. Buscas en lo más profundo, tienes que hacerlo, porque si no, te vas a casa”.

La Final comenzó con este, Bryant y Garnett hablando sobre el Miedo:

En el intermedio del primer partido se emitió este otro, el más sorprendente, sobre la Rivalidad:

“Rivalries are born, but they never die. Rivalries live on. The names in the story may change, but the feeling remains. What matters so much then, matters now. Rivalries never die”.

“Las rivalidades nacen, pero nunca mueren. Las rivalidades sobreviven. Los nombres pueden cambiar, pero el sentimiento permanece. Lo que importaba tanto entonces, importa ahora. Las rivalidades nunca mueren”.

Por último, esta es la recopilación de la serie, probablemente el mejor de todos:
